The Beginning of My Computer Addiction

I’m not entirely sure that this was my first encounter with a computer, but it’s the furthest back I could remember. Flashback to the early 2000s, my aunt just left for a job abroad. Taking the majority of her possessions with her left us with an empty room in the house. My father, who was uncharacteristically exuberant, took one look at the blank space and decided that it was time to buy a computer. Now, you have to understand that back then computers were chunky and awkward. My parents bought a desktop computer with all the hardware like the basic monitor, CPU, mouse and keyboard set up and then added a camera, speakers, and even a printer. This was all jammed into a narrow table, making the set up feel more claustrophobic but it was my family’s pride and joy. Everyone took turns with it, I remember that there was a schedule so that we all had a fair amount of time. My turns always started off with Plants vs Zombies then venturing on to other games like Feeding Frenzy and Purble Place. As I became more comfortable with using the computer, I stumbled across Internet Explorer which eventually led me to Y8. Some of my fondest memories with my cousins included us cramming on a monoblock chair to play Fireboy and Watergirl. With an innocent start of playing games on a computer, as I delve deeper into the internet and as technology continually advances, there is so much more to share in the following weeks.
